re-Cycles is a not-for-profit bicycle recycling shop based in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada). We:
repair donated bikes that we sell to the community.
provide an equipped shop and bike repair know-how so that you can maintain and repair your own bike.
Please note! We do not fix your bike for you. But if you want to do it yourself there's always a Head Mechanic on hand during our evening hours to guide you if needed.

12/22/2011 - HOLIDAY CLOSURE: re-Cycles is closed for two weeks and will re-open Tuesday evening January 3rd. If you need parts or bikes our shop-mates Cycle Salvation will be open right up until the 23rd, then closed the following week.
12/06/2011 - Our apologies if you showed up tonight at our usual opening time and found the shop closed. We eventually opened at 6:45.
11/01/2011 - We now enter our full Fall / Winter schedule. The shop is now closed on Saturdays and Mondays, but in addition to our evening hours we're open Sundays 1pm to 5pm. Like last winter, on Sundays we're open for sales and donations, but no inexperienced volunteers and no DIY repair.
10/06/2011 - For the upcoming holiday weekend the shop will be open on Saturday, though closing an hour early at 4pm. We'll be closed Monday.
09/30/2011 - We now enter our Fall / Winter schedule for the evening hours, with a closing time of 9pm (until the end of March). Saturdays and Mondays continue as usual until Oct. 31st.
08/31/2011 - For the upcoming Labour Day weekend the shop will be open on Saturday but closed Monday.
07/28/2011 - For the upcoming long weekend we'll be open as usual on Saturday AND on Monday, as it's not a statutory holiday.
07/20/2011 - SHOP CLOSURE. Due to the extreme heat forecast the shop will be closed on Thursday July 21. The shop does not have A/C, but does have a flat roof that sucks up heat and the ceiling fans probably won't cope. Hope everyone can keep cool!
06/28/2011 - For the upcoming Canada Day weekend we'll be open as usual.
05/19/2011 - For the upcoming holiday weekend the shop will be open on Saturday but closed Monday.
05/17/2011 - To meet the increasing demand (and now that we have floor space due to the new shelving), we have added a third workstation in our rear "unsupervised" room.
04/19/2011 - For the upcoming Easter weekend the shop will be open both Saturday and Monday as usual.
04/11/2011 - We have added a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page. Please read this before contacting us, as we're trying to lessen the email-answering load.
03/28/11 - As March draws to a close we are set to return to our full spring and summer schedule. The Sundays are now closed, and starting this coming weekend we will be open Saturdays and Mondays in the afternoon, in addition to the usual weekday evenings.
03/23/11 - As the Spring season begins all the bikes we've been working on through the winter are ready for sale. In addition to the ones in the front sales room we will have, for the next few weeks, some bikes to peruse in the rear room. However, we now have limitations as to what bikes you can choose back there: you may only look at those out on the floor, and not those on the (recently installed) shelves. This is because while the shelving allows us to store on-site more of the huge number of the bikes we take in, they are tightly packed and thus it's laborious and time-consuming to get at specific bikes. That's fine for us - when we need to replenish front room stock we just grab the next available bike(s). But not so fine if you as a customer want that red one at the very end of the row. But all of the bikes will come out soon, as the sales are already quite brisk at this time of year. While we of course do not wish to inconvenience our customers we hope that you will understand why we had to make this change.
02/19/11 - The shop is open on Sunday as usual for the Family Day long weekend.
01/02/11 - Happy New Year! The shop has reopened after the Holiday shutdown.

Please note! Each evening shift at our shop is run by a volunteer "Head Mechanic". We make every effort to be open during our posted times, but there are the odd occasions when the Head Mechanic is not being able to attend the shift for whatever reason (and could not find a replacement on short notice). We appreciate your understanding if this happens, and apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.
